In our "DIY" world, the temptation to handle repairs and maintenance in-house is strong and often driven by a perceived cost savings. This article explores the many considerations condominium and co-op Boards should take into account when deciding how to handle their projects large or small.

Many decisions are driven by economic concerns, but it is important for Boards to consider the hidden costs and long range impact before determining the best course of action.  FirstService Residential's Bill Worrall discusses some of the methods the company utilizes to ensure teams are properly trained and that preventive maintenance and routine programs are in place to prolong the life of equipment while minimizing costly repairs.
