Local Law compliance for condos, co-ops, and multifamily rental buildings

You shouldn’t have to struggle to navigate New York City’s web of multifamily housing laws or worry that your property manager will miss an inspection deadline resulting in a violation. Our in-house Compliance Department makes things easy for our clients and frees up valuable time for your property manager to focus on important board business and building priorities.
These in-house experts resolve disputes and violations, actively monitor local law updates, and track deadlines to prevent future violations.

Time is a precious commodity that shouldn’t be wasted.

That’s why we use InCheck by SiteCompli, a virtual platform that tracks the status of building inspections, permit expiry, violations, and complaints. InCheck also generates building-wide reports to track overall compliance and generate required logs for HPD, FDNY, and the DOB.
Using the platform, our managers can also schedule combined inspections to simplify the process and reduce the inconvenience for residents who may become frustrated with numerous requests to enter their apartments.

Meet Stephanie Cardello, vice president of our Compliance Department.

For more than a decade, Stephanie has led our Compliance Department and maintains a robust internal education program to help our property managers and the compliance team stay on top of New York’s evolving regulations. This includes the tax abatement process for co-ops and condos, facade and gas pipeline inspections, maintenance and filing requirements for elevators and MEP components, and annual safety notices.

“In just one year, FirstService helped our building recoup over $100,000 by resolving violations that our prior management company couldn’t remedy. Those funds have been reinvested in our building.”
