Sanmiguel Oversees a Management Portfolio of More Than 2,700 Rental Units Across New York City

NEW YORK, July 18, 2022 – FirstService Residential, New York’s leading residential property management company, announced the promotion of Jaime Sanmiguel to Managing Director of the Multifamily Rental Division in New York City. In this role, Sanmiguel has executive oversight of a management portfolio comprising 60 buildings and more than 2,700 residential units across New York City. He also directly manages a team of dedicated property managers who specialize in multifamily rental management, risk mitigation and compliance with new and complex legislation affecting New York City residential properties.

Sanmiguel joined FirstService Residential in 2020 as General Manager of the iconic 8 Spruce Street in Downtown Manhattan. Known also as New York by Gehry, the 76-story building comprises more than 900 luxury apartments and an exceptional suite of amenities.

His tenure as general manager was during the height of the pandemic and required meticulous attention to detail to comply with a barrage of new health and safety mandates from state and city officials. He also served as a liaison between the residents and ownership to ensure that both were at-ease and confident in how FirstService Residential was managing the building and working to protect residents, their visitors and building staff.

“Jaime consistently demonstrated a calm, level-headed demeanor during the onset of the pandemic, which for New Yorkers was the most unnerving and stressful event since 9/11,” said FirstService Residential President Dan Wurtzel. “He successfully maintained the confidence of our client, the 8 Spruce building staff and the residents, as well as the morale of his team and the property managers. His promotion to managing director recognizes his professionalism, his years of experience and success as a team leader.”

Before joining FirstService Residential, Sanmiguel was based in Miami and worked for many years with luxury lifestyle and hospitality brands, where he also served as a liaison between his employer and high-net-worth clients to instill a sense of exclusivity and white glove service. Since then, Jaime has built a reputation for cultivating strong relationships with the building owners and tenants he serves through his commitment to customer service and responsive communication.

“I take great pride in the work that I do, especially considering my team and I are responsible for the health and safety of thousands of New York residents,” said Sanmiguel. “As managing director, there’s an even greater opportunity to help our building owners make meaningful changes and improvements in their buildings and I look forward to the task.”

For more than 40 years, FirstService Residential has provided tailored management services to institutional developers and family-owned portfolios that significantly increase revenue, maximize occupancy and streamline operations. Today, the company manages more than 140 multifamily rental buildings comprising roughly 12,000 apartments and 30,000 tenants. This is in addition to a management portfolio of more than 500 condominium and cooperative properties in the New York City area.
