FirstService Residential, New York’s leading property management company, has been selected as managing agent for Carmel Place, New York City’s first micro-unit apartment building. Located at 335 East 27th Street in Kips Bay, Carmel Place is a nine-story development comprised of 55-units each measuring approximately 300 square feet.

“As the first housing design of its kind in New York City, Carmel Place serves as a groundbreaking prototype in size and infrastructure that sets a new precedent for multifamily residential living,” says Dan Wurtzel, president, FirstService Residential. “FirstService Residential is delighted to have been retained to provide management services tailored to the unique needs of the building’s residents.”

Developed by Monadnock Development, the apartments in Carmel Place were designed by nArchitects.

Carmel Place features a community room with pool table and television, fitness center, roof deck with a barbecue grill and lounge, Wi-Fi, cable, virtual concierge, onsite laundry, and storage rooms on each floor.  Select residences are serviced by Ollie, an amenity and lifestyle provider using multi-functional interior design and convertible furniture to transform small households into versatile spaces. Ollie packages also include weekly housekeeping by Hello Alfred, an app-based personal butler service, as well as access to activities and common areas at other buildings within the Ollie network.

“Carmel Place demonstrates that quality of living is not dependent on the size of the space in which one resides,” adds Wurtzel, “if that space is intelligently designed and supplemented by state-of-the art amenities.”

Of the 55 apartments in Carmel Place, 33 are market rate, 14 are classified “affordable,” and eight are reserved for veterans.
