FirstService Residential Volunteers Help Package 20,000 Pounds of Pears for Northern Nevada Food Bank
Volunteers from FirstService Residential, the leading property management company in Nevada, helped the Northern Nevada Food Bank sort and package 20,000 pounds of pears for those in need this holiday season. Volunteers also packaged other food items such as bread to ensure families would have healthy meals.
“We often take for granted the amount of food we have while there are many in our community going without,” said James Gibson, regional sales director for FirstService Residential. “To see 20,000 pounds of pears and know that is just a drop in the bucket really provides a new perspective on the issue of food insecurity in our community.”
In addition to volunteer at the Northern Nevada Food Bank to sort and package food, FirstService Residential is holding a food drive now through Dec. 20 to benefit the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
Non-perishable food items such as hearty soups and stews; peanut butter; canned beans, vegetables and fruits; chili; tuna; and rice and pasta can be dropped off at the FirstService office at 6170 Ridgeview Court, Suite C, or at The Club at Town Square at 7650 Town Square Way.
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada was founded in 1982 and is the regional food distribution and support system for more than 130 different direct service, non-profit agencies.
