Our Caring Goes Far Beyond the Boundaries of Your Community

FirstService Residential team members live, work and play in the same communities you do. We take pride in serving each of our communities, and as local residents, we believe it is our responsibility to lend a hand – or more – when our friends and neighbors need assistance. From opening a door with a friendly smile to offering labor resources, funding and compassion in times of disaster, we believe that the opportunity to be genuinely helpful is what defines us.

Minnesota Giving

Both as a company and individually, we support worthy causes and non-profit organizations in our local communities. FirstService Residential created an annual Fund for Community Excellence in memory of Mel Gittleman that gives back to the communities we serve through donations to various health, wellness, environmental, housing and cultural organizations in Minneapolis, St. Paul and surrounding suburbs.

Through the Community Excellence Fund, FirstService Residential in Minnesota has contributed to the following organizations in the last few years:

Midtown Greenway Coalition
Mill City Farmers Market
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity
Capital River Council (St. Paul)
The Loft Literary Center
Loring Greenway Association
Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota
Friends of Mears Park
Three Rivers Park District

Corporate Responsibility

As a corporation, FirstService Residential also goes above and beyond to provide much-needed assistance to our residents in times of emergency.  As part of this commitment, we established a $10 million emergency fund to cover damages in any of our managed communities caused by catastrophic events, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, or major snow, flooding or wind.

For example, Hurricane Sandy’s destructive path along the east coast in 2012 caused significant property damage to 200 properties managed by FirstService Residential in New York and New Jersey. Immediate funding was available to these affected properties, enabling them to start repairs right away, even before their insurance claims were finalized. As a result, our residents and their families could start returning to their day-to-day lives.
