Community utilizing geothermal heating and cooling system

Toronto, Ontario: FirstService Residential, one of Ontario’s largest condominium management companies, has commenced management of Clarington Tower 2, a 12 story condo loft style community located in Brampton just off Highway 7, on the border of Woodbridge. The Clairington Tower 2, will be heated and cooled by a geothermal system; a technology that is an energy-efficient, cost-efficient and earth-friendly alternative to conventional heating and air-conditioning systems.

“Geothermal energy today is at the leading edge of heating and cooling technology,” says Julian McNab, Director of New Community Development at FirstService Residential. Geothermal heating and cooling systems require less electricity to run and use zero fossil fuels. They produce no greenhouse gas emissions and they do not contribute to global warming. For residents at The Clairington Tower 2, operating costs are forecasted to be less than typical HVAC systems,” says McNab.  The Clairington Tower 2 has also been built with energy-saving low-e argon windows, low flow toilets, faucets and showerheads that will conserve water, and garbage chutes that make recycling easy.

“We are excited to be part of a community that exhibits a strong sense of environmental responsibility,” says Todd Cooper, President, FirstService Residential Ontario.   “This responsibility goes along with our commitment and dedication to sustainability, as we continue to work towards establishing green practices and conservation efforts in the condominiums we serve,” noted Cooper.
