FirstVoice is now VOICES
FirstVoice is now the VOICES Employee Experience survey and it is just around the corner. This is your opportunity to share how we are doing, what we are doing well and where we have opportunities for improvement.Your voice matters and will help us become a better company, so we want to hear from all of you. Last year, 82% of you participated in the survey. It was the highest level of participation we have ever had. We are excited to do even better this year.
Over the next few weeks, you will hear more about our VOICES survey. From July 18-August 8, please take the opportunity to let us hear your voice.
If you have any questions about how to take the survey, please reach out to your supervisor. Thank you in advance for participating.

Practicing Empathy
Being empathetic allows for more kindness, forgiveness, and connection. Here are some steps you can take to get there.- Mindfully listen: Listen without judgment. To help with this practice, reflect back to the person you are talking to what you understand they said, “I heard you say this…” You can acknowledge something without agreeing with it.
- Describe the emotions or thoughts that have been said or unsaid: “It sounds like you feel sad, scared, excited, angry” or “I wonder if you’re feeling or thinking this…” Describing the emotion provides validation, increasing a person’s level of safety to open up further.
- Match vulnerability: Openly express that you have felt this way too to validate their feelings. “I also feel ___ at times…”
- Responding: “What do you need?” Do they need a solution, or do they just want to talk about it? Do they want to do something different together? Showing this response reflects that you care about what they are saying and feeling.
School Supply Drive
FirstService Residential is kicking off our annual School Supply Drive starting July 10th. Our goal is to ensure that students at Robert Lunt Elementary School and Virginia Palmer Elementary School have the resources they need for a successful school year.
1st Annual FirstService At The Movies

On a night filled with cinematic magic and exciting action, FirstService Nevada gathered at Galaxy Theaters for the 1st Annual "FirstService At the Movies." More than 45 enthusiastic associates enjoyed the electrifying experience of the latest installment in the beloved Transformers franchise, "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts".
HR Manager Chona Vallejo says it was fun being able to see so many people who she doesn't get to see very often, “It was nice to be able to see people outside of the office or business meetings. We never get to see the sited associates so that was great while getting to enjoy a nice evening and an exciting movie. I definitely plan on going to the next "FirstService At the Movies!"
FirstService At the Movies proved to be not only a memorable movie experience but a great way to thank our associates for all they do for our residents while also fostering a sense of camaraderie and connection. The event exemplifies FirstService's commitment to building a strong, engaged associate community. This is one of the many initiatives our Culture and Engagement Committee [CEC] has on deck for the year. Many thanks to CEC leader, Regional Director Xiomara Tejada, for her work coordinating this event.
Please share your thoughts about your experience at “FirstService At the Movies” and let us know how we can make this event even better!
