Company associates collect over 43,000 supplies during annual school drive

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (August 25, 2016): FirstService Residential, the leading community management company in Nevada, conducted its annual school supply drive providing supplies to two low-income elementary schools.
 
Associates of FirstService Residential’s Southern Nevada offices and industry vendors gathered over 42,500 supplies, including pencils and pens, notebooks, boxes of crayons and markers, reading books, glue sticks, scissors, reams of copy paper and other miscellaneous items, and delivered them to Hollingsworth Elementary School, a nine-month school located in a low-income neighborhood of Las Vegas. Under the direction of Principal Katie Decker, the school, which has a 46 percent transient rate, is under-going a major visual transformation in hopes of enhancing the overall learning experience of the students.
 
“Our staff was completely overwhelmed by the generous amount of supplies that came into our school to support our children,” said Katie Decker, principal of Howard E. Hollingsworth Elementary. “Our teachers were very relieved to know that some of those supplies would not come from their own pockets. We could not do this job well without the support of our community.” 

FirstService Residential’s Northern Nevada associates delivered over 500 supplies, including hand sanitizers, packs of colored pencils, highlighters and markers, and construction paper to the students of Robert Mitchel Elementary School, located in Reno.
 
Together, the Nevada regional offices gathered and donated over 43,000 supplies during their month-long school supply drive. “This was such a rewarding experience for our associates,” said Steven Parker, president of FirstService Residential in Nevada. “We aim to make a difference and bring value to the communities we live in.”
