For example, our associates have adopted soldiers who are serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. One example is a mother of six who received weekly care packages during her year-long tour of duty in Afghanistan and was honored upon her return at our Annual Board Dinner.

In addition, FirstService Residential created a $10 million emergency fund for damages to our communities caused by catastrophic events such as hurricanes, earthquakes, major snowstorms, flooding or wind.
This fund was recently used in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, which caused major damage to thousands of properties along the eastern Seabord in late 2012, including 200 communities managed by FirstService Residential New York and FirstService Residential New Jersey, our affiliated companies. With this funding, repairs could begin immediately, allowing residents and their families to start getting back to their daily lives.
