FirstService Residential Supports Community Association Leaders at the Capitol
(March 13, 2015, Las Vegas, NV) – A group of community association board members from northern and southern Nevada made their way to the State Capitol last week as part of FirstService Residential’s Day at the Capitol. The agenda for the day included attending hearing sessions, meeting with legislators and most importantly, having their voices heard.
These community leaders, with the support of FirstService Residential, the leading community management company in Nevada, gathered a detailed list of talking points that were important to them and their communities, prior to traveling to the Capitol. These talking points covered pressing items including the super-priority lien, election process and seal bid procedure.
Upon arrival at the Capitol, the participants toured the legislature building grounds and were briefed on the sessions for the day. They had an array of choices on the hearings that they were invited to attend. Most of the attendees had set private appointments with their legislative leaders prior to the trip and were able to sit down with them to voice their opinions on the talking points, as well as other issues.
“I walked away from our appointments feeling very positive about their future focus on our issues,” said Carol Confino, board president for Ridgeview Village Homeowners’ Association. “Because of this opportunity, I have learned and grown volumes in my knowledge of the process and I feel that I can develop my own path to go forward and keep in touch with those who can help our fight.” Without opportunities such as the Day at the Capitol, important voices from active community leaders like Confino’s, may never be heard.
This is FirstService Residential’s first time organizing this event and with the overall success and positive feedback felt by the participants, they plan to return in 2017 with an even larger group. “Offering this event to board members throughout Nevada was very important to us because we know how these legislative issues impact them on a daily basis,” said Steven Parker, president of FirstService Residential in Nevada. “This event, as well as other value-added services that we offer, is a great example of how we at FirstService Residential care about and continuously support our communities.”
