FirstService Residential Hosts Second Educational Best Practice Board Roundtable in Arlington, Virginia
Fairfax, VA – FirstService Residential, the leading property management company in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, hosted its second community association management best practice sharing roundtable in Arlington, Virginia. The interactive two hour session was attended by Board members from numerous communities in Arlington and several FirstService Residential executives and Community Managers. Board members represented communities currently managed by FirstService Residential, as well as properties currently managed by other firms, or self-managed. The informative session was moderated by FirstService Residential DC Metro President, Daniel Bauman.
The session was held at The Grove at Arlington, a mid-rise condominium in Arlington that has been managed by FirstService Residential since 2013 and consists of 190 condominiums. The Grove at Arlington offers residents amenities including a pool, courtyard, clubhouse, and fitness center, as well as convenient access to the District of Columbia.
The agenda was developed based on feedback from attendees. Topics included the use of customized standard operating procedures resulting in proactive, as opposed to reactive management, how to handle water damage in one unit that affects other units, and owner versus rental occupancy and how this can impact property values.
"The roundtable is a great way to come together as a community of volunteer leaders and professionals to learn from each other and share experiences. At the end of the day we all benefit by being better equipped with information that helps us take our communities to the next level,” said Jacob Tsizis, President Stratton House Condominium. “Solutions for many similar problems exist and the roundtable is a great way to learn from the experiences of others who are in the same boat."

He further noted, "After another successful roundtable discussion, we see that there is a strong demand for a forum that promotes the exchange of ideas and best practices as it relates specifically to the challenges facing condominiums in Arlington."

In addition to the Arlington events, the educational best practice sharing roundtable series has been successfully held across the region including Northwest DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
