FirstService Residential Associates Participate in Potomac River Watershed Clean Up
FirstService Residential, the leading property management company in the Washington, D.C. Metro area partnered with the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of Community Associations Institute (WMCCAI) and the Alice Ferguson Foundation to participate in a Watershed Clean-up Day on April 14, 2018. Associates from FirstService Residential prepared for the event by meeting to learn more about the Foundation, discussing logistics and developing a plan to tackle the task at hand. Together, the team was assigned Rocky Run Park of the Potomac River watershed, an area which leads into the Atlantic Ocean.
“This is a great way for our team to positively impact the surrounding areas of the communities we serve,” said Crystal Coats, community association manager, who organized the event. “The more volunteers, the greater the impact on our community! Social responsibility is an important value to our organization.”
“It is truly a rewarding experience to be able to improve the area in which we both live and work.” said Kenneth Martin, director of business development for FirstService Residential in Virginia and Washington, DC.
“This event gave me a fulfillment of giving back something to the community,” said Mary Rogers, accounts receivable analyst at FirstService Residential. “After we completed the areas we cleaned up, you looked around and found a sense of pride and accomplishment. The neighbors of the surrounding developments were so appreciative of us volunteering.”
FirstService Residential hopes to be a long-time participant of this program and continue to support the Alice Ferguson Foundation in their work to promote the environmental sustainability of the Potomac River watershed.
