A Letter from the President - Fall 2020
Wow! Never in a million years could we have predicted the experiences we have all lived through these last six months. To use an overused term and say these times have been unprecedented is quite an understatement. Although we've faced challenges while adjusting to the impact of COVID-19, it's also been a time to appreciate the remarkable resilience and grit of Texans, our nation and the world.
At FirstService Residential, we are so grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our clients and working with outstanding board members each and every day. I'm often asked how the pandemic impacted our business and am grateful to say that while we've had speed bumps along the way, we've been allowed to continue serving our clients and supporting them in delivering our brand promise.
We quickly marshaled our local and national resources to safely and cost-effectively organize materials related to widespread amenity closures and reopenings. I'm proud that our COVID-19 response manual and materials were not only shared with thousands of clients throughout North America but were also made public so that smaller communities could access the same excellent materials. We've learned a lot these past months and continue to learn more each and every day.
As we look to the future, I am absolutely optimistic that our business and industry will continue to adapt in ways that meet our current and undiscovered needs. As I have shared with our teams, now is not the time to hunker down and wait for the storm to pass. Instead, we should invest in our people, enhance service to our clients and spend time adapting and improving our operations. These opportunities fill me with energy and optimism, and I hope it is the same for you as you lead your communities.
You can expect your FirstService Residential team to remain committed to our brand promises of:
- Optimize Your Operating Budgets
- Enhance Your Property Values
- Elevate Safety & Mitigate Risk
- Improve Resident Lifestyle
- Deliver Exceptional Service
I can't say enough about how our collective efforts to stabilize associations across Texas have positively influenced the communities we serve. This year has been, without question, one of the more challenging experiences we've shared throughout our partnership; however, if your teamwork is any indication of how we'll face the next challenge, I can confidently say that this group of community leaders give me, along with the entire organization, hope for 2021 and beyond.
Sincerely,
Katie Ward
