FirstService Residential and John C. Cassidy Air Conditioning Host 2nd Annual Homerun for Autism Charity Softball Game
The South Florida High-Rise Division of FirstService Residential, North America’s premier property management company, played John C. Cassidy Air Conditioning in a charity softball game on Saturday, November 19th, at Roger Dean Stadium. The 2nd Annual Homerun for Autism Charity Softball Game was part of an afternoon that raised nearly $19,000 for The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) at FAU. Last year’s game raised $12,000 for the cause.
The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) at FAU is a community-based program providing assistance and support to people with autism spectrum disorder and related disabilities, their families, the professionals serving them and the community at large.
“Last year we had the idea to organize a charity softball game to benefit The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at FAU, a cause that is very dear to my heart,” said Christopher L. Pappas, senior vice president of FirstService Residential. “And with the support of the community, our friends at John C. Cassidy and Roger Dean Stadium, and of course, the associates at FirstService Residential who participated and dedicated their time to this cause, that idea became a huge success. We have raised more than $31,000 in the last two years. To say that I am honored to be a part of it, would be an understatement.”
Vendor sponsorship was displayed throughout the Cassidy Cool Zone, an air-conditioned pavilion that offered an area for families to enjoy their food and beverages. The afternoon included a variety of games, face painting, and raffles. Former MLB baseball players, including Robby Thompson of the San Francisco Giants, Bill Gullickson of the Montreal Expos and Detroit Tigers and Jeff Reardon of the Montreal Expos and Minnesota Twins were also present signing autographs.
The event was deemed such a success that one is already in the works for 2017. FirstService Residential, who lost by one run, has demanded a rematch next fall. Again, all proceeds will go to FAU Center for Autism and Related Disabilities.
