FirstService Residential Hosts Another Successful Educational Best Practice Board Roundtable at Historic Naval Square
FirstService Residential, the leading property management company in Pennsylvania, hosted an educational roundtable focused on high-rise management best practice sharing. The three hour session was attended by board members from numerous high rise buildings in Philadelphia and several FirstService Residential High Rise Division executives and community manager associates. The board members represented buildings currently managed by FirstService Residential as well as properties currently managed by other firms or self-managed. The informative session was moderated by FirstService Residential Mid-Atlantic Regional President Michael A. Mendillo.
The session was held at Naval Square Condominium Association located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This historic property, managed by FirstService Residential since 2010, consists of 600 condominiums and townhomes. Naval Square offers residents a low-maintenance lifestyle with easy access to the heart of both Center City and University City, each just a short walk away. It features an array of world-class amenities, including the outdoor pool and sundeck, fitness center, and community center.
The agenda was developed based on feedback from attendees. Topics included financing capital improvements, major repairs and replacements; rentals in condominium associations and cooperatives and the best approach for striking a balance between the best interest of the community and owners; emergency preparedness and the critical importance of customized standard operating procedures; and collections best practices. Regardless of the topic, communication and collaboration between the board, management and owners was a common theme.

Also, the way that others had dealt with the similar situations provided helpful guidance as to ways we could try dealing with it as well, saving us from having to reinvent the wheel so-to-speak,” said Gary Neiderkorn, President, 2101 Cooperative. “I absolutely walked away from that meeting with two or three great ideas to try.”

In addition to the Philadelphia event, the educational best practice sharing roundtables have been held successfully across the region including the Gold Coast of New Jersey, Baltimore Maryland, and Arlington Virginia. Upcoming scheduled events include Charlotte North Carolina, Charleston South Carolina and additional roundtables in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and the DC Metropolitan area.
