FirstService Residential Hosts Condominium and Homeowner Association Management Educational Best Practice Roundtable in Pennsylvania
Malvern, PA, March, 2014 – FirstService Residential, the leading property management company in Pennsylvania, hosted an educational roundtable focused on condominium and homeowner association management best practice sharing.
The interactive three hour session was attended by board members from numerous condominium and homeowner association communities in southeast Pennsylvania and several FirstService Residential executives and community managers. Board members represented communities currently managed by FirstService Residential as well as properties currently managed by other firms, or self-managed. The informative session was moderated by Robert Teeling, FirstService Residential Mid-Atlantic Senior Vice President of Condominium and Homeowner Associations.
The session was held at the Desmond hotel and the agenda was developed based on feedback from attendees. Topics included how to handle additional costs of snow removal and other weather related expenses, ways to cure community apathy, voting via email to obtain a quorum, and board member training specific to their roles. The curing community apathy topic generated a significant number of ideas from board member participants and FirstService Residential associates drawing upon a long history of providing lifestyle and amenity services to communities of all types.
"It was useful to have a discussion on how to properly leverage a Reserve Study,” said Robert Stewart, Member at Large from Knoll’s of Birmingham. “The roundtable was interesting and it was extremely helpful to hear how other associations handle things."
