Toronto, ON: FirstService Residential, North America's leading property management company, will launch a Vendor Certification Program on April 22, 2015.   As part of their continued commitment to deliver exceptional service for the communities they manage, they have partnered with Business Credentialing Services (BCS), an independent business credentialing company.  BCS is staffed with insurance professionals whose expertise assists vendors in meeting requirements for certification.

Roger Thompson, Executive Vice President at FirstService Residential says, “By teaming with BCS we’ve consolidated our licensing and insurance tracking process into a web-based application which provides Property Managers with access to vendor credentials.  Managers can filter the database to easily find certified vendors providing the services needed.”  Vendors are required to pay a fee to BCS to be verified before becoming a FirstService Residential Certified Vendor.

“These days it’s more important than ever to protect condominium corporations from unlicensed and underinsured vendors.  Risk is increasing as evidenced by current trends such as the fact that vendor claims are rising and they are settling for larger amounts.  We often see cases where cash-strapped vendors may let their insurance lapse or they purchase sub-par coverage,” noted Todd Cooper, President, FirstService Residential.  “We are aiming to have all of our current vendors certified and on our new vendor list within a six month time frame,” said Cooper.
