Dennis Abbott Appointed to CAMICB Board of Commissioners
Dennis Abbott, CMCA®, AMS®, PCAM® has been appointed to the CAMICBSM Board of Commissioners this month. Dennis Abbott is the President of the North and South Carolina region for FirstService Residential, the leading property management company in North America. The CAMICB (Community Association Managers International Certification Board) is an independent nonprofit that develops and administers the Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA®) certification program, the only internationally accredited certification program in the community association management field. CAMICB was established by Community Associations Institute (CAI) in 1995 in response to a need for stringent professional standards of community association management. Dennis Abbott’s appointment to the CAMICB Board of Commissioners consists of a three-year term. This nine-member Board validates accreditation and supports the integrity of the programs and certifications. Along with the Board’s quarterly in-person meetings, Abbott’s duties will include the hearing of any ethics cases brought forward to determine their validity and consequences.
Dennis Abbott has held many leadership positions within the CAI, including President in 2013, chair of CAI’s Association of Professional Community Managers Board, and President of the North Carolina Chapter. Abbott is a member of CAI’s prestigious President’s Club and the recipient of various awards including 2006 Rising Star, the 2007 Excellence in Designations Award, and 2012 Recruiter of The Year – all awarded by CAI. He is among 5% of all community managers to hold the most-prestigious industry designation as a Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM®).
