LAS VEGAS (April 25, 2017):  For the second consecutive legislative session, FirstService Residential, Nevada’s leading community management company, arranged to bring a group of community association board members to the State Capitol.  The company’s “Day at the Capitol” event, held on March 28, provided a unique opportunity for board members to attend hearing sessions, meet with legislators and have their voices heard during the legislative session.

“It´s important for our legislators to gain a perspective of community associations from homeowner board leaders,” said Mark Leon, secretary, Yellowstone Homeowners Association, a FirstService Residential-managed community.

Prior to traveling to the Capitol and to prep for the session, FirstService Residential worked with community leaders to help them compile a list of talking points about the issues that were most important to them and their communities. This exercise helped ensure participants got the greatest value out of their trip to the Capitol.

Upon arrival at the Capitol, participants toured the legislature building grounds and were briefed on the sessions for the day. They had an array of choices on the hearings that they were invited to attend.

“The Day at the Capitol was a wonderful educational event to learn how our legislators create the laws effecting all of our homeowners,” said the Solera at Anthem board president. “The opportunity to sit on the Senate floor with our elected Senator was invaluable in establishing a relationship for future contact.”
