(August 31, 2015, Las Vegas, NV) - FirstService Residential, the leading community management company in Nevada, conducted an annual school supply drive to provide supplies to two elementary schools. Students of Walter Long and Echo Loder Elementary Schools received supplies to assist them in heading back to school.

Walter Long Elementary is a nine-month school located in a low-income neighborhood of Las Vegas. FirstService Residential’s southern Nevada office, consisting of 599 employees, gathered over 10,200 supplies, including notebooks, packs of crayons, glue sticks, pencils and paper, and delivered them to the students at Walter Long.

“Your employees pulled up with a full truck and two cars. Every third, fourth, and fifth grade student received two notebooks, pencils, and crayons. Kindergarten through third graders received pencil pouches with glue and a box of crayons,” said Anna Hurst, assistant principal for Walter Long Elementary School. “Each teacher walked away with two boxes full of materials. It was truly exciting!”

In Reno, 139 FirstService Residential associates delivered over 2,100 supplies, including folders, packs of colored pencils, glue sticks, and construction paper to the students of Echo Loder Elementary School. Led by Principal Dina Ciaramella, Echo Loder is located in a diverse neighborhood of Reno and includes grade levels pre-kindergarten to sixth.

“The student supplies donated by FirstService Residential will make an immediate impact on student learning,” said Ciaramella. “When students have the supplies they need, it empowers their learning and retention of information.”

Together the Nevada regional offices gathered over 12,300 supplies during their month-long school supply drive. “We strive to make a difference, every day for not only the communities we manage, but also for the communities we live in,” said Steven Parker, president of FirstService Residential in Nevada.
