Dan Wurtzel is President of FirstService Residential New York (formerly Cooper Square Realty), overseeing the departments and teams that collectively manage nearly 500 condominium, cooperative and rental properties comprising 70,000 apartments.
 
As President, Wurtzel is responsible for client retention, leadership development, organizational growth and strategic initiatives. Under his leadership, associates are provided the tools and technology necessary to successfully navigate the complex financial, regulatory, and operational challenges they face daily. Wurtzel also is responsible for ensuring that FirstService Residential delivers on its promise of “service excellence” to board members, building owners and residents across the company’s New York metropolitan area portfolio.
 
A 30-year industry veteran, Wurtzel holds a Registered Apartment Management (RAM) designation and is a licensed real estate salesperson in New York State. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his accomplishments and contributions to the industry. He was named “RAM of the Year” by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), received the Emma Lazarus Award from the Associated Builders and Owners (ABO), and earned a Management Achievement Award from Habitat magazine.
 
Wurtzel joined Cooper Square Realty in 1987 as a Property Manager and was promoted to positions of increasing responsibility prior to being named President in 2008, including Vice President, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.  He served on the RAM National Board of Governors from 2003 to 2006 and shares his expertise by speaking at industry events and conducting seminars on topics such as building finances and labor relations.
 
Wurtzel earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Maryland. He is the founder and president of the Rye Brook Travel Baseball Club in his hometown, and is an avid skier, baseball and basketball player, and a die-hard New York sports fan.
