Community Access, Inc., a non-profit organization that assists New Yorkers living with psychiatric disabilities in transitioning to independent living, has elected the President of FirstService Residential New York, Dan Wurtzel, as the newest member of its Board of Directors. 
 
Founded in 1974, Community Access helps over 10,000 homeless and low-income New Yorkers by providing affordable housing, job training, hot meals, counseling and crisis support services. With over $140 million in real estate holdings, the agency has built housing developments throughout New York City, which have won numerous awards within the supportive housing industry.
 
“We are delighted to have Dan Wurtzel join our Board,” said Steve Coe, Chief Executive Officer of Community Access. “Dan has been an advocate and supporter for over 20 years, and brings with him a deep understanding of the real estate industry and financial operational management.  We are fortunate to have Dan’s leadership, expertise and involvement to help us reach our 2015 goals.”
 
As President of FirstService Residential New York, Wurtzel oversees the departments that collectively manage more than 500 condominium, cooperative and rental properties comprising 70,000 apartments.  Wurtzel manages client retention, leadership development, organizational growth and strategic initiatives. He is also responsible for ensuring that FirstService Residential delivers its promise of “service excellence” to board members, building owners and residents across the company’s New York metropolitan area portfolio.

As the newest board leader, Wurtzel is working with the Community Access team to assist the agency in achieving the organization’s goal to build 1,000 new units of affordable housing throughout New York City.
