Merit Property Management, Inc. Changes Name to FirstService Residential
Name Change Part of North American Rebranding Effort Highlighting National Reach and Personalized Local Service
ALISO VIEJO, CA (June 27, 2013) – The corporate headquarters of FirstService Residential has announced that its subsidiary, Merit Property Management, Inc., has been renamed FirstService Residential. This name change is part of FirstService Residential’s national rebranding effort, which took effect on June 27, 2013.
FirstService Residential is the largest manager of residential communities in North America, overseeing more than 6,000 properties and over 1.5 million residential units. The former Merit Property Management, an established leader in California’s property management market for residential and commercial properties, manages a client portfolio of more than 200,000 units and 560 associations. It became a subsidiary of FirstService Residential in 2007.
“From day one, our partnership with FirstService Residential has supported us in our efforts to continually enhance the value and quality of our service, and thus the overall experience and enjoyment our residents have within the communities we serve,” said Bob Cardoza, formerly CEO of Merit Property Management and now president of FirstService Residential California.
“A key differentiator for FirstService Residential California is our unique ability to combine our strong local presence with nine regional offices throughout the state, with the organization's comprehensive corporate resources, and with the broad market expertise of our local companies across North America,” he added.
Cardoza also noted that the rebranding to FirstService Residential signifies a change in company name only, and all day-to-day operations will remain “business as usual.” Current property management teams will remain in place to service their existing customers, with added benefits gained from access to expanded resources, shared expertise and best practices.
