Green & Sustainability

What’s good for the environment is also good for our residents.
FirstService Residential is always looking for ways to enhance the lifestyle of the residents of communities served by our companies. We are committed to adopting more sustainable management practices to help our residents lead healthier, more environmentally friendly lifestyles. After all, what’s good for the environment is also good for our residents.
As a result of this commitment, we created the Green & Sustainability Council, a national task force committed to helping residents and employees achieve a better quality of life through sustainable management practices.
Building knowledge to foster sustainable communities
By encouraging our professionals, staff and companies to become better informed about sustainability, we can help our community achieve that goal. We are following the US Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED standard to guide our learning, and to date, our team includes 50 LEED certified APs and GAs across the country, with more becoming certified each month.
We are using this knowledge to implement best practices within our organization to lessen our impact on the environment, while considering the economic, social and environmental impacts. At all of our offices, we are committed to implementing ten key initiatives that we call the Fast 5 and Big 5 to achieve our goal of developing comprehensive conservation policies and strategies for energy and water conservation, creating recycling programs, rolling out a national green cleaning policy and best practice guide, and developing sustainable purchasing, renovation and green lease policies.
We are partnering with our communities to develop long-term sustainability plans that reduce costs and enhance livability. Find out how you can Go Green in your community.
